Afghan terrorist killed in operation: ISPR

An Afghan national involved in terrorism inside Pakistan was killed during an operation conducted by security forces in Datta Khel area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province's North Waziristan district on 6 February, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.

The individual was later identified as Luqman Khan, also known as Nusrat, son of Kamal Khan, a resident of Spera district, Khost province, Afghanistan.

Pakistan has approached the Interim Afghan Government to take over the body of the individual, being an Afghan citizen, ISPR said in its statement.

“Such incidents are irrefutable evidence of involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorist activities in Pakistan. The Interim Afghan Government is expected to fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan,” the statement added.

Pakistan has repeatedly called on Afghan authorities to prevent militant groups from using Afghan territory to launch attacks inside its borders, a point of ongoing tension between the two countries.

Security forces killed three militants during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan, according to a statement from the ISPR on Friday. The operation, conducted on the night of February 6-7, followed intelligence reports indicating the presence of militants in the region.

The military's media wing stated that during the operation, troops successfully targeted the militants’ location, resulting in the elimination of three terrorists. The militants were reportedly attempting to flee while disguised in burqas.

The deceased terrorists were found in possession of weapons and ammunition. According to the ISPR, they were involved in multiple terrorist activities within the region. Following the operation, a sanitisation mission is currently underway to eliminate any remaining threats in the area.
