Islamabad Art Gallery hosts 'Beyond Façade' exhibit

The Islamabad Art Gallery (IAG-F9) hosted Beyond Façade, a captivating exhibition that delves into the evolving landscape of contemporary Pakistani art. The event took place at the Islamabad Art Gallery, located in F-9 Park.

The exhibition was formally inaugurated by Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), whose presence underscored the importance of promoting artistic expression and cultural dialogue within academic and public spheres. Distinguished guests included Professor Dr Qaiser Abbas, Vice Chancellor of Sargodha University, and Professor Dr Hassan Sher, Vice Chancellor of Swat University, reflecting the strong connection between Pakistan's academic institutions and the promotion of cultural and artistic endeavours.

Beyond Facade offered an in-depth exploration of Pakistan's diverse artistic narratives, challenging traditional boundaries and presenting fresh perspectives on modern identity, society, and culture. The exhibition invited the audience to look beyond surface appearances and engage deeply with the stories and emotions embedded in the artwork. Participating artists, many of whom have ties to academic institutions like the National College of Arts, Punjab University, Sargodha University, Lahore University, Cadet College Chakwal, Rawalpindi Women University, and Hunerkada College of Visual Arts, presented works that infused art with intellectual depth and academic insight.

Curated by Farrah Mehmood Rana and Amna Shah, the exhibition highlighted the dynamic interplay of tradition and innovation in Pakistani art. The thoughtful selection of works offered a unique perspective on the evolving artistic identity of the country.

The exhibition was open to the public, providing art enthusiasts, scholars, and the wider community with an opportunity to engage with contemporary Pakistani creativity.
