Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq on Friday condemned the killing of two Kashmiri youths at the hands of Indian occupational forces in Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Voicing his serious concern over the rising incidents of state terrorism in IIOJK , the Prime Minister said the disputed region has witnessed a rise in incidents of custodial deaths and fake encounters in recent years.
Terming the use of excessive force by the Indian Army as a sign of their frustration, he said, "Baffled by the overwhelming response of the Pakistani nation on Kashmir Solidarity Day, the Indian government and army have launched an endless series of searches, sieges and arrests in IIOJK over the past two days."
Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq further said the Indian army has been involved in serious human rights violations in IIOJK. He said that the use of inhumane torture techniques by Indian forces during interrogations had led to countless custodial deaths of innocent civilians, particularly young boys.
On the other hand, he stated, Indian occupational authorities have been using detention as a tool to suppress political dissent and those opposing their rule in the region.
Urging the international community to take notice of the dire situation in the region, he stressed it is high time for the world to step forward and help resolve the lingering disputes, which have been the main cause and consequence of unrest and human rights violations.
Prime Minister Haq reiterated the Kashmiris' resolve to continue their struggle until they achieve their cherished goal of freedom from India's illegal occupation.
It is worth mentioning that a Kashmiri truck driver, Waseem Ahmed Mir, was shot dead after Indian troops opened fire on his vehicle at Sangrama Chowk in Baramulla in IIOJK on Wednesday night. Another youth, Makhan Din, was arrested in the Jammu area on the pretext of working with pro-freedom activists and was later tortured to death in custody on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan hailed the statement made by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir over Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
He stated that the army chief's statement made on Kashmir Solidarity Day in the capital city of AJK has given a new spirit to the Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control LoC. This statement has not only alleviated the despair that had spread among the people of IIOJK since August 5, 2019, but it has also united the people of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir with renewed determination to fight for the freedom of occupied territory.
