Democratic Norms: District celebrates Democracy Day
In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly decided to observe September 15 as Democracy Day

The International Day of Democracy is to be observed on Thursday all over the world, including Pakistan. In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly decided to observe September 15 as Democracy Day and invited all member states and organizations to commemorate the day in an appropriate manner that contributes to raising public awareness regarding democratic norms. This year’s International Day of Democracy coincides with the observance at UN Headquarters of the International Day of Peace. The Bahawalpur DCO said that several seminars and speech competitions had been organised in this regard.
