Megan Thee Stallion, Psy to headline Apple TV+ K-pop competition series ‘KPopped’
Apple TV+ has greenlit a new K-pop competition series titled KPopped, starring Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion and “Gangnam Style” hitmaker Psy.
The eight-episode series will feature top K-pop idols collaborating with Western music icons to reimagine their biggest hits, culminating in live performances judged by a Seoul-based audience.
Megan Thee Stallion will not only perform her chart-topping hit Savage but will also serve as an executive producer. Lionel Richie, Moira Ross, Miky Lee, Greg Foster, Harry H.K. Shin, and Jake Hong are also attached as executive producers, alongside Kiwoong Kim of CJ ENM Co., Ltd. The show will be produced by Eureka Productions, a Fremantle company, with Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening, David Tibballs, and Bruce Eskowitz also on board.
KPopped marks Apple’s latest foray into the unscripted competition space following My Kind of Country, a country music-focused series that aired in 2023, and the 2024 docuseries K-Pop Idols.
Apple TV+ continues to expand its diverse content lineup, tapping into the global popularity of K-pop. With Megan Thee Stallion and Psy at the helm, KPopped is expected to generate significant buzz among both Western and K-pop audiences.
