ISLAMABAD:

The Joint Education Action Committee (JEAC) of federal educational institutions staged a protest against the termination of the 25% tax rebate on teachers' and researchers' salaries and the non-provision of educational allowances. The protesting educators warned that if their demands were not met, they would suspend teaching activities across all schools in the city starting next week.

Addressing the protest outside the National Press Club, JEAC leaders criticised the government for approving a 100% salary increase for the judiciary and a 500% raise for parliamentarians while making unjust deductions from teachers' earnings. They vowed to continue their peaceful struggle until the issue was resolved.

A large number of teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the demonstration, carrying placards and banners with slogans demanding justice. The protest was led by JEAC Chairman Dr Fazal Moula, Vice Chairman Malik Amir Khan, General Secretary Syed Mansoor Ahmad Shah, President JEAC Sardar Siddique, and other representatives from various teachers' associations.

During the demonstration, the teachers marched from the Press Club to China Chowk. The speakers condemned the abolition of the tax rebate and the delay in providing educational allowances, calling for the immediate restoration of the 25% rebate and its extension to 100%.

The protesters announced that if their demands were ignored, they would escalate their movement by boycotting exam duties.
