MDCAT questionnaire sent to regular bench
A request for release of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) questionnaire became a shuttlecock between two benches of the Sindh High Court.
The regular bench sent the petition to the constitutional bench, on which the constitutional bench refused to hear it.
A hearing was held in the High Court regarding the petition filed by MDCAT candidates for the release of the question paper. Due to a change in the roster, the judges were replaced, and the case was transferred to another regular bench.
After hearing the case for an hour, the regular bench referred the petition to the constitutional bench, which declined to hear it after a brief session.
Justice KK Agha remarked that the petition challenged a policy and should therefore be sent back to a regular bench for a hearing.
The petitioner pleaded with the court to hear the case by taking the stance that this was a matter of the future of the students, on which the bench adjourned the hearing till February 13 on the insistence of the lawyer.
The position taken in the petition was that relief should be provided to the petitioner by Sukkur IBA and Sindh Testing Service (STS) and the results should not be released until its decision.
It was highlighted that in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, candidates received copies of the question paper along with the answer sheets. The Islamabad High Court has also ordered the release of the question paper.
