Dengue Update: Machines from Germany to arrive in 10 days

A 12-member team from Sri Lanka was also on its way to provide technical assistance to the government, says CM.

LAHORE:

Three hundred foggers ordered from Germany will be received within the next 10 days, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif told a meeting on Wednesday held to review steps taken so far to eradicate dengue virus.

He said a special team of experts from India was arriving with insecticides. Another 12-member team from Sri Lanka was also on its way to provide technical assistance to the government, he added. He commended private hospitals for providing free medical facilities to dengue patients.

The chief minister said that schools and colleges in Lahore should remain closed so that the buildings could be sprayed effectively. He said school managements would be required to submit a certificate of spray to be allowed to reopen. Town committees will monitor the process, he said.

He said that private housing societies should also be sprayed. Management committees of the societies failing to comply with the government’s instructions in this regard would be dissolved.

Sharif directed the authorities to spray all recreational parks and lakes. He also directed spray along the canal. The chief minister directed the Solid Waste Management to make arrangements for removing garbage from hospitals every 24 hours.
