Karachi continues to experience cold weather as chilly winds and light fog persist across the city on Monday.

The minimum temperature in the city today was recorded at 13.5°C, with visibility limited to just 3 kilometres due to the morning fog, Express News reported.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the weather in Karachi is expected to remain cold and dry for the next 24 hours, with clear skies throughout the day. The maximum temperature is predicted to reach 28°C, while the minimum temperature will hover around 11°C.

The department also forecasts that winds will blow at a speed of 10 to 25 kilometres per hour from the north and north-east during the day, continuing to keep the weather relatively cool.

Residents are advised to take precautions due to the chilly winds, especially during the early morning and late evening hours.

This cold spell is expected to continue for the next few days, with temperatures remaining lower than usual for this time of year.

Moreover, cold weather continues to grip Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) as temperatures drop to as low as -6°C in several mountainous areas, accompanied by snowfall.

The provincial capital, Peshawar, recorded a temperature of 6°C, while areas such as Kalam and Malam Jabba saw significant drops, with Kalam’s minimum temperature reaching -6°C, and Malam Jabba recording -2°C.

According to the meteorological department, most of the province is expected to remain cold and dry, with the possibility of light rain in some areas like Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, and Bajaur.

Snowfall is also expected to continue in the mountainous regions, further intensifying the cold conditions.

In addition to the snow, some districts, including Chitral, Parachinar, and Dir Bala, are also experiencing low temperatures, with Parachinar and Dir Bala both recording -3°C.

The ongoing cold snap is expected to persist, with no significant changes in the weather pattern over the next few days. The department has warned of the continued likelihood of heavy snowfall and lower temperatures in the high-altitude areas, urging the public to take necessary precautions.

The province’s residents are bracing for more of the same as the harsh winter conditions continue to impact daily life across K-P.
