Sabrina Carpenter made a powerful debut at the 2025 Grammy Awards, but her performance and acceptance speech were both censored during the live broadcast.

The "Espresso" singer, nominated for six Grammy Awards, performed a medley of "Espresso" and "Please Please Please", but was bleeped-out during the show. Instead of modifying the lyrics for television, Carpenter sang the original line from "Please Please Please": "I beg you, don't embarrass me, motherf—ker." The explicit word was muted on the broadcast.

Later in the night, Carpenter was censored again after winning Best Pop Vocal Album for "Short & Sweet." While thanking the Recording Academy, her team, and fellow nominees, she ended her speech with a comment that was completely muted from the live feed. Earlier, she also apologized for saying "hell" multiple times, adding, "I don't know if I'm allowed to say hell, but I said it three times now, so thank you."

Carpenter's six nominations included Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year for "Espresso," as well as Song of the Year ("Please Please Please"), Album of the Year, and Best New Artist.

The 2025 Grammys, hosted by Trevor Noah at the Crypto.com Arena, featured high-energy performances and viral moments, including Carpenter’s censored yet unforgettable debut on music's biggest stage.
