Justin Baldoni has released screenshots of text messages he allegedly received from Ryan Reynolds amid his ongoing legal battle with Blake Lively. The messages were included in a 168-page document uploaded to a website launched by Baldoni’s legal team, which also contains his amended $400 million lawsuit against Lively and Reynolds.
The dispute began in December when Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and attempting to damage her reputation. Baldoni denied the allegations and counter-sued, alleging civil extortion, defamation, and invasion of privacy.
Among the documents shared, a conversation allegedly between Baldoni and Reynolds is included. The exchange shows Baldoni reaching out to Reynolds in what he describes as an "awkward text," expressing a desire to be friends. Reynolds reportedly responded with an apology for the delay, citing family commitments, and praised Baldoni’s work on It Ends With Us, calling him a "wonderful collaborator" with Lively. Reynolds further noted that Lively rarely accepts film roles and that Baldoni was fortunate to work with her.
The website also highlights other details, including a scene in It Ends With Us that Lively requested to revise and a statement Lively’s team allegedly drafted for Baldoni, urging him to take responsibility for production challenges. Additionally, Baldoni’s legal team claims Lively’s agency, WME, pressured him to take full accountability for negative press surrounding her.
New York Judge Lewis Linman has set an initial conference for February 3, with the trial proceedings expected to begin on March 9, 2026.
At the time of writing, representatives for Lively and Reynolds have not publicly commented on the release of these documents. As both parties prepare for trial, the ongoing dispute continues to unfold, with further developments expected in court.
