Doctor abducted for ransom rescued
A doctor abducted for ransom from Kharrianwala five days ago has been recovered and four suspects have been arrested along with weapons.
The accused have been sent to jail for an identity parade, police officials confirmed.
Addressing a press conference, SSP Investigation and Acting CPO Rana Abdul Wahab, along with SP Jaranwala Ziaullah and DSP Kharrianwala Khuda Bakhsh, detailed the operation that led to the rescue of MBBS Dr Abdul Samad, a resident of 237A, Choti D Ground.
Dr Samad, who runs a clinic in Chak 200 RB Lathianwala, was kidnapped on January 26 while returning home in his car (LEB-4632).
Concern grew when Dr Samad did not respond to calls from his family.
Shortly after, the kidnappers used his mobile phone to demand a ransom of Rs20 million. His family promptly reported the incident to Kharrianwala police, leading to the registration of a case under the kidnapping for ransom act.
A specialized police team, led by SP Jaranwala Ziaullah, DSP Kharrianwala Khuda Bakhsh, and CDU branch officers Omar Sarfraz Warraich and Qamar Javed, was formed to trace the kidnappers.
Police tracked the ransom calls and lured the suspects to Millat Chowk, Sargodha Road. When the kidnappers arrived to collect the money, officers swiftly apprehended them and secured Dr Samad's safe recovery from Chak 116, Bara Tali Jhumra.
SSP Abdul Wahab emphasised that the case posed a significant challenge, especially given the suspects' history of fraud in Dubai. However, police teams acted efficiently, ensuring the doctor's safe return.
