US Woman seeking husband in Karachi admitted to psychiatric ward

An American woman who traveled to Karachi in search of her husband has been admitted to the psychiatric ward of Jinnah Hospital, officials confirmed. 

According to Express News, the woman, identified as Onijah Andrew Robinson , has been placed under special care at the psychiatric department of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Security personnel from both JPMC and Sindh Police have been deployed to ensure her safety and supervision. 

JPMC spokesperson Jehangir Durani stated that Onijah has undergone an ‘MRI scan’, while further psychological assessments and other psychiatric tests are being conducted. 

“The final determination of her mental health condition will be made based on these reports,” Durani added. 

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as medical professionals assess her condition. 

Earlier, a statement from the son of the woman who surfaced. In the statement, the son described his mother as mentally ill and claims that her ability to think and reason is impaired, leading to her mental state becoming unstable.

According to Express News, Robinson, an African-American woman, travelled to Pakistan in October, 2024, after falling in love with a 19-year-old boy from Karachi. She has been in the country ever since, claiming to be married to the Pakistani man, saying that their marriage took place online.
