The National Highway Authority (NHA) of Pakistan has officially announced the implementation of a 100% M-Tag policy across all motorways in the country, effective from today, February 1, 2025.

According to the official news agency Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), the NHA has also decided to charge additional fees from vehicles without M-Tags.

As per the NHA's notification, vehicles with low balances or those using cash tolls will incur an additional 25% charge on the total tax, with a minimum additional fee of Rs50.

Previously, in December 2021, the NHA had announced a deadline for the full implementation of the M-Tag system, stating that vehicles without M-Tags would no longer be allowed to pass through motorway toll plazas.

However, despite this, cash booths remained available on motorways, allowing vehicles without M-Tags to pay the same toll fee as M-Tag users.

The full implementation of the M-Tag policy aims to streamline the toll collection process and encourage the use of electronic tags for more efficient and faster travel across Pakistan’s motorway network.
