KARACHI:

An office superintendent of the Government College for Women, Nazimabad, allegedly escaped with huge amount of money that he had collected as fees from the students.

The college principal, Prof. Shehla Bashir reported the matter to the Rizvia police who subsequently registered a case against the absconding superintendent.

The principal informed the police that three days ago, college staff approached her and informed that students were visiting administration office to collect their admit cards which were supposed to be issued by the superintendent, but they did not get their admit cards. Later, "I came to know that Nafees dishonestly collected cash amounting to Rs910,200 from around 81 students as examination fees," Prof Shehla mentioned, adding, Nafees also collected cash directly from the female students for other works instead of directing the students to deposit the same in the bank.

Following the complaints, a notice was put up on the college notice board in October 2024, warning students and parents not to give cash to any staff member for any reason and to obtain bank vouchers instead.

The principal was informed by the students that Nafees was last seen in the college on January 25.
