10 terrorists neutralised in K-P operations
Ten terrorists were killed in various operations by security forces in Dera Ismail Khan and North Waziristan districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Friday.
The ISPR, the media wing of the military, said that the terrorists killed in the operations overnight were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces as well as the killing of innocent civilians.
"On 30-31 January 2024, ten Khwarij were killed in various operations by the security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province," the ISPR said. The term Khwarij referred to the terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
"On reported presence of Khwarij, an intelligence-based operation [IBO] was conducted by the Security Forces in general area Khulachi, Dera Ismail Khan District. During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location and resultantly, four khwarij were sent to hell," the ISPR stated.
"In four separate encounters in North Waziristan District, fire exchange took place between the Security Forces and khwarij in general area Datta Khel, Hassan Khel, Ghulam Khan and Mir Ali. Resultantly, six khwarij were successfully neutralized by own troops," it continued.
"Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in these areas against the security forces as well as killing of innocent civilians," the ISPR added.
According to the media wing of the military, sanitisation operations were being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area. It added that the security forces of Pakistan were determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country.
The operations against terrorists came amid an uptick in terrorist violence in areas along the border with Afghanistan. On Thursday, the ISPR had said that security forces neutralised six terrorists in an IBO in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan district, in which two security personnel embraced martyrdom.
Meanwhile, President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in their separate messages, commended the security forces for conducting successful operations against Fitna-al-Khwarij in Dera Ismail Khan and North Waziristan districts and appreciated their bravery for killing 10 terrorists.
