Aram Bagh, BCP Pechs win basketball titles
Aram Bagh Club won the boys title while BCP PECHS clinched the girls title at the 8th Commissioner Karachi Cup basketball tournament which concluded here at International Abdul Nasir Basketball Court, Aram Bagh.
Spectacular fireworks work were held after the finals of the tournament which was held under the patronage of Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hasan Naqvi, and with the approval of the Karachi Basketball Association (KBA).
Additional Commissioner Karachi, Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah graced the occasion as chief guest and distributed the prizes.
In the exciting boys' final, Aram Bagh Club beat Bahria Supers by 70-54. Standout performances from the winners came from Ali Chanzeb: who scored 24 points (including 5 three-pointers), Daniyal Marwat: (20 points including 3 three-pointers) and Hassan Ali: (20 points).
From the runner-up team, top scorers were Hamza Pasha (20 points), Tayyab Jadoon (15 points) and Abdul Basit (9 points).
In the girls' final, BCP College PECHS emerged victorious against BCP North Nazimabad by 19-13. For the winning team, leading scorers were Azra Mukhtar (6 points) and Arooba (5 points). For the runner-up team, Aiza Naveed (6 points) and Sehba (2 points) stood out on the court.
Other prominent personalities present on the occasion included SAF Games gold medalist Naseem Hameed, POA's Asif Azeem, SOA's Asghar Baloch, Metro Pakistan's Hammad Haider, TMC Saddar KMC's Noor Hassan Jokhio as well as Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Sheikh Aqil Ahmed, Asif Gulfam, Shakeel Ilyas, Raheela Masroor, Saeeda Iftikhar and others.
At the closing ceremony, cash prizes worth Rs 180,000 were distributed on behalf of Commissioner Karachi while Metro Pakistan, KATI, and Naya Nazimabad provided sports kits and other items to the players.
