The UFC’s official Instagram account was hacked on Wednesday evening, with a strange post promoting a new cryptocurrency coin.

A UFC official quickly confirmed that the post was not legitimate.

The UFC's Instagram account was compromised on Wednesday evening, displaying a bizarre post promoting a new cryptocurrency coin.

The post, which read, "UFC fans have been waiting, and the moment is here. Get ready to own the legacy. Precision. Strength. All in one coin. #UFC #UnleashTheFight," also included a crypto wallet address.

The post remained live for over 30 minutes before being taken down.

In addition to the main post, an Instagram Story was uploaded that linked to a website where the fraudulent cryptocurrency could allegedly be purchased. This portion of the hack has also since been removed.

The UFC’s social media team is working to secure the account and prevent further fraudulent activity.

Cryptocurrency scams have been a growing issue, with Americans losing more than $5.6 billion to such scams in 2023 alone.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin (BTC), the world’s largest cryptocurrency, recently reached an all-time high of $109,026.02 following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of plans to establish a U.S. Bitcoin strategic reserve.
