Jake Gyllenhaal is set to headline a new supernatural romantic thriller from acclaimed filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan and bestselling author Nicholas Sparks.
According to exclusive reports, the upcoming film is based on an original story co-created by Shyamalan and Sparks, with both independently developing a screenplay and novel inspired by the same concept.
This project marks a rare collaboration for Shyamalan, who typically works solo on his scripts. The film, produced by Shyamalan’s Blinding Edge Pictures, is in discussions for a theatrical release with Warner Bros. Nicholas Sparks’ longtime collaborator Theresa Park and producer Marc Bienstock will also be involved, with Sparks serving as an executive producer.
For Gyllenhaal, this film follows a successful run, including his action-packed hit Road House for Amazon MGM Studios, a Golden Globe-nominated performance in Presumed Innocent for Apple TV+, and an upcoming Broadway adaptation of Othello alongside Denzel Washington.
Shyamalan, known for delivering box office hits like The Sixth Sense and Split, continues his momentum following his recent thriller Trap. Sparks, whose novels have sold over 130 million copies worldwide, most recently topped the New York Times best-seller list with Counting Miracles, which is also being adapted into a film by Amazon.
This highly anticipated project combines Shyamalan’s signature mystery with Sparks’ renowned romantic storytelling, promising a unique cinematic experience for fans of both creators.
