Tyrese Maxey scored 43 points to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 118-104 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.
The win ended a four-game Lakers streak and came despite Philadelphia missing key players Joel Embiid and Paul George.
Anthony Davis exited the game early with an abdominal strain after playing just 10 minutes, scoring four points and grabbing two rebounds.
His injury leaves the Lakers’ playoff push in jeopardy as they continue their five-game road trip without their star forward.
Maxey’s dominant performance, including 15 field goals from 26 attempts, powered the 76ers.
Despite missing their star players, the 76ers capitalised on Davis’ absence and outscored the Lakers 48-32 in the second quarter, building a 16-point lead by halftime.
LeBron James, who tallied 31 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists, tried to keep the Lakers in the game, but their defence faltered without Davis. During the game today, James also moved into the 6th place for all-time steals in NBA history.
Rookie Dalton Knecht added 24 points, but it wasn’t enough.
Philadelphia, now 18-27, remains in contention for the play-in tournament, while the Lakers fall to 26-19, sitting in fifth place in the Western Conference.
The Lakers now face the Wizards, Knicks, and Clippers with Davis' availability uncertain.
