Girls basketball event in quarter-final stage
Aram Bagh Club beat Bahria Supers 64-48 in the last league match of boys event played here on Tuesday in the 8th Commissioner Karachi Cup Boys Basketball Tournament.
For the winning team, star player was Ali Chand Zaid who scored 16 points, Daniyal Khan Marwat scored 12 points and Mushtaq Ali contributed 12 points with four three-pointers.
From the runner-up team, Hamza Pasha scored 16 points, while Bilal Khan and Tayyab Jadoon scored 10 points each.
The tournament is being held under the supervision of KBA at the International Abdul Nasir Basketball Court. The semi-finals of boys event will begin on Wednesday at 8:3pm.
Meanwhile, the girls' event has advanced to the quarter-final stage. Six more games were decided. Bahria Karsaz defeated KMA College 20-12 while BCP PECHS beat Blasters Ballers 14-8. In the third match, BPS Johar beat KMA White 10-8. BCP overcame KU Club 22-15 while Bahria Karsaz outplayed BSS Johar 14-8. In the last match of the girls event, KU Club beat Blasters Ballers 6-4.
Notable players in these matches were Raheema Khan, Dua Ali Ramesha, Fizza Ali, Urooj Kamran, Umme Mukhtar, Dur-e-Fishan Adeeb, Raheema Irfan, Laiba, Meerab, Fizza Batool, and Adeeba.
For the girls' quarter-finals, the teams which qualified include BSS North Nazimabad, SJAS, BCP PECHS, Karachi University Club, Bahria College Karsaz, BSS Johar, Indus Academy and BSS Gulshan Iqbal.
At the start of the girls' matches, Additional Deputy Commissioner South Asma Batool was introduced to the players. Prominent attendees included AC Aram Bagh Muntha Azhar, Ghulam Muhammad Khan, former KBA Secretary Tariq Hussain, businessman Asif Gulfam and others.
