RAWALPINDI:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur's resignation as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President for the province has been accepted, it emerged on Tuesday.

Gandapur, who also helms the PTI-led provincial government, stepped down voluntarily, with his resignation being approved by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar on the instructions of party founder Imran Khan, sources revealed.

"Gandapur himself had requested Imran Khan to relieve him of the position, and the approval was granted accordingly," the sources added.

It is noteworthy that, just two days ago, Gandapur had been removed from the position of PTI K-P president and Junaid Akbar appointed as his replacement.

On Saturday, the PTI had announced a key leadership change in the province with Chief Minister Gandapur stepping down as PTI K-P president. He was succeeded by National Assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman Junaid Akbar.

Announcing the change, PTI leader Salman Akram Raja clarified that Gandapur's decision to step down was voluntary and would allow him to focus on his responsibilities as chief minister. Raja highlighted pressing challenges, including law and order issues, as the primary reason for the change.

PTI rejects 'disinformation'

In a related development, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that Imran Khan has rejected the "disinformation" circulating about Gandapur's removal as the party's provincial president.

Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail after meeting Imran Khan, Barrister Gohar said the PTI founder categorically stated that misconceptions were being spread about the leadership transition in K-P.
