Shab-e-Meraj observed across Pakistan with religious fervor
Shab-e-Meraj, one of the holiest nights in Islam, was observed with great reverence and devotion across Pakistan on Monday night.
The sacred night commemorates the night when the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ascended to the heavens, marking a pivotal event in Islamic history.
Special prayers, Quranic recitations, and religious gatherings took place in mosques and homes across the country as worshippers offered prayers for the unity of the Muslim Ummah and the prosperity of Pakistan.
Mosques were beautifully decorated with lights, creating an atmosphere of solemnity and devotion. After Isha prayers, thousands of faithful gathered at mosques, where special prayers continued until Fajr.
Religious scholars delivered sermons emphasising the significance of Shab-e-Meraj, its blessings, and the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). These gatherings also focused on the spiritual lessons derived from the life and journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
In addition to the mosques, homes and streets were adorned with colorful buntings, reflecting the festive and spiritual mood of the night.
Shab-e-Meraj, observed on the 27th night of Rajab, is also known as Laylatul Meraj or Shab-e-Meraj-un-Nabi (PBUH) as the night marks the miraculous journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to meet Allah Almighty.
According to Islamic tradition, Hazrat Jibrael (AS) visited the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on this night and took him on the Buraq to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, where he led the prayers of all the previous prophets.
