Why Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song haven’t tied the knot yet

Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song, one of Hollywood’s favorite couples, have been together for eight years and engaged since 2022. 

Yet, fans often wonder why the pair hasn’t tied the knot. In a joint interview with Cosmopolitan, the couple revealed their surprisingly relatable reason for delaying their wedding.

“We talked about eloping,” Song admitted, “but I was like, ‘If we eloped, my mom would have a heart attack that she wasn’t going to be there.’” Culkin, ever considerate, chimed in, “I wouldn’t even dream of upsetting my future mother-in-law!” Despite their non-traditional approach to their relationship, the couple’s focus on family remains paramount.

Before their engagement, Culkin surprised Song with a proposal that included 21 individually wrapped garden gnomes. The couple had already welcomed their first child, Dakota, in 2021, followed by their second son, Carson, in late 2022.

The family made a rare public appearance at the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2023, where Culkin received his star. Song recalled the event as “a special moment” but noted how their eldest son, Dakota, struggled with the cameras. “That’s one reason we keep them out of the spotlight,” she shared.

Although the couple typically avoids the limelight, they recently had a public date night at a Lakers game, reminding fans of their strong bond. For now, their wedding plans remain on hold, but their love story continues to inspire.
