Khanpur police apprehended suspects involved in deceiving citizens and traders by posing as magistrates and fraudulently minting money from them.
In one case, a suspect had posed as a government officer and extorted money from a citizen near Ihsan Oil Agency, within the jurisdiction of Mohrha Ghazan police station.
A case was registered against the suspects under sections 419, 420 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) based on the complainant's report. Khanpur police station SHO, Inspector Haroon Khan, along with his team, conducted an operation and apprehended the accused, Sarwar Shah and Haseeb. They also recovered the vehicle that was used by the suspects to commit the crime.
Alongside impersonating fake magistrates, the suspects had also been imposing fake fines on citizens and traders and extorting money.
The suspects will be presented before the real magistrate tomorrow morning.
