PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has advised engineering graduates to take cue from the Indus valley civilization as they embark on the journey of professional development.
Speaking as a chief guest at the 28th convocation of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, on Saturday, Bilawal believed that the ancient ancestors' 'stewardship is as relevant today as it was then'.
"Their wisdom was timeless and their actions forward thinking," he underscored while referring to the people who established Mohen Jo Daro as a cradle of civilization in 2,500 BC. He reminded them that as graduates of MUET they are associated with a legacy that is profound beyond their comprehension.
"This land that you walk upon [and] the soil that you call home, holds within it the echoes of a civilization that shaped human history." He said the ancestors who lived in the era of the Indus valley civilization thousands of years ago had thrived as one of the most advanced societies of their times.
"Our ancestors lived in harmony with the nature, designing systems that respected the flows of the rivers and the rhythm of the earth."
The PPP's chairman said being the heirs of that civilization it is incumbent upon them lead the way by means of innovation and calibration, and also by embracing the principles of sustainability and inclusivity. He saw the climate change and its consequences as the greatest challenge in the present age with Sindh being on the front line of the climate crisis as the rising sea levels threaten the coastal areas.
