Fig fire in Murrieta: Evacuation orders and warnings continue in California
A new fire in Riverside County, California, has triggered evacuation orders and warnings.
Firefighters responded to a structure fire Thursday evening on the 41000 block of Fig Street, which spread to nearby vegetation.
Evacuation orders were initially issued for the area surrounding I-15 and Jefferson Avenue, from Guava Street to French Valley Parkway in Murrieta.
Fire officials have confirmed that the forward progress of the fire has been stopped, and there is no immediate threat beyond the evacuation zones.
Authorities are advising the public to avoid the area and refrain from flying drones in the vicinity.
This fire in Riverside County is the latest addition to a series of wildfires that have plagued California since the beginning of 2025. The state has already seen a number of destructive blazes this year, fueled by dry conditions and strong winds.
This new fire, although contained, adds to the growing list of incidents, highlighting the ongoing wildfire risks the state faces in the early months of the year. Firefighters continue to battle multiple fronts as California grapples with an extended fire season.
