Civilians, cop injured in police-robbers crossfire

A police officer, a female passerby and a rickshaw driver were injured in an exchange of fire between police and robbers in Mehmoodabad. The armed robbers escaped in the cover of firing.

According to details, three people, including a policeman and a female passerby, were injured in an exchange of fire between the police and robbers near the Mehmoodabad No. 5 cemetery in the Baloch Colony police station area on Thursday morning.

The injured people including cop Rizwan, female passerby Faiza and rickshaw driver Imran were rushed to the Jinnah Hospital.

The policeman was shot in the left thigh, the female passerby in the waist and the rickshaw driver in the chest.

When contacted, SHO Baloch Colony Mazhar Ali Kangu said that looting incidents are more common in Mehmoodabad No. 5 early in the morning. Therefore, the police patrol is deployed in the area from 6am to 9am. The injured cop was on patrol when he came face to face with robbers on motorcycle and was injured in the exchange of fire. The armed robbers fled the scene.

Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the shooting has surfaced in which the robbers can be seen firing and fleeing in a narrow street. The footage also shows the cops chasing the fleeing robber.
