KARACHI:

Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) CEO Dr Ahson Siddiqi emphasised on the importance of using evidence-based practices for improving safety and quality in healthcare.

He spoke about the principles of quality and patient safety, recognising barriers in maintaining quality and safety in real world scenarios at a guest lecture on "Quality and Patient Safety in Healthcare" hosted at the AKU Hospital on Thursday.

Dr Siddiqi explained that the current medical curriculum in different medical schools across the countries often focuses on teaching diseases' treatments rather than patient-centred care. Treating patients effectively requires recognising their diversity.
