Security forces have neutralised six terrorists in Zhob district while they were trying to infiltrate into Balochistan through the border along Afghanistan, the military's media wing said on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), "On [the] night of 22/23 January, movement of a group of khwarij, who were trying to infiltrate through Pakistan-Afghanistan border, was picked up by the security forces in general area Sambaza, Zhob District."
"Own troops effectively engaged and thwarted their attempt to infiltrate. Resultantly, six Khwarij were sent to hell. A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered," it added.
Pakistan has consistently been asking the Interim Afghan Government to ensure effective border management on their side of the border.
"The Afghan interim government is expected to fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by Khwarij for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan," it said.
The ISPR said Pakistan's Security Forces remained committed to securing its borders and eliminating the menace of terrorism from the country.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday paid tribute to the security forces for foiling the infiltration attempt.
In separate messages, the president and prime minister appreciated the bravery of the security forces for killing six terrorists during the timely operation.
"Pakistan's valiant armed forces are determined to protect the country's borders at all times. Operations against terrorists will continue until the complete elimination of the menace of terrorism. The entire nation stands with its security forces in the war against terrorism," the president said.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said, "The nation is proud of the security forces. They will continue to thwart the nefarious intentions of the enemies of humanity. The government of Pakistan and the security forces are mobilized to completely eliminate terrorism from the country."
