Doctors give 90-year-old new lease on life

Successfully remove 7kg tumour from patient's abdomen at Pindi CMH

Doctors at the Rawalpindi Combined Military Hospital (CMH) have successfully removed a 7-kilogramme tumour from the abdomen of a 90-year-old patient after a five-hour-long surgery.

The patient, a resident of Mator, a town in the Kahuta area, had been suffering from persistent abdominal pain for some time.

After undergoing essential tests at CMH, it was discovered that he had a large tumour in his abdomen. The diagnosis revealed that the tumour had grown to an alarming size.

According to medics, it was so large and heavy that it made even basic activities, such as standing and walking, extremely difficult for Raja Sardar Khan.

The tumour's size posed a serious risk to his health, and after thorough laboratory analysis, the doctors decided that surgery was the only viable option to save his life.

Despite his advanced age, the medical team at CMH decided to proceed with the surgery after consulting with the patient's family. Raja Sardar Khan's son, Advocate Raja Muhammad Nazir, gave his consent for the surgery, fully aware of the high-risk nature of the procedure.

Major General Mukarram and Brigadier Haroon Yusuf led the team that performed the operation.

The surgery lasted for five hours, during which the doctors successfully removed the 7-kilogram tumour, providing much-needed relief to the patient. The complexity of the operation and the age of the patient made this a particularly challenging case. However, the doctors' skills and expertise ensured the procedure was successful.

According to medics, Raja Sardar Khan's recovery has been good so far, with the patient now able to take short walks just a day after the surgery. His son, Advocate Raja Muhammad Nazir, expressed his gratitude to the medical team, stating that his father is now recovering rapidly and is no longer suffering from the severe pain he had endured before the operation.
