4 of family killed n in Khanewal road crash

Victims include two minor boys, their parents

A collision involving two motorcycles and a bus on Vehari Road claimed the lives of four family members and left a private company salesman critically injured on Thursday.

Police said Abdul Rasheed, a resident of village 84-10R, was travelling on a motorcycle with his wife, Haseena Bibi and their two sons, 8-year-old Rasheed and 4-year-old Arif, heading toward Vehari. Near the 28 Adda area, their motorcycle collided with another motorcycle ridden by Sarwar, a salesman from village 27-10R.

The impact pushed them into the path of an oncoming bus traveling from Vehari to Khanewal. All four family members were crushed under the bus and died on the spot, while Sarwar sustained serious injuries.

Upon receiving the report, DPO Muhammad Ismail Kharrak and other police officials arrived at the scene.

The injured were rushed to the hospital, and the bodies were sent for post-mortem examinations.

The bus driver fled the scene following the incident, while rescue teams conducted relief operations.

The Kacha Khuh Police Station has registered a case and initiated an investigation into the accident.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of a four family members in Khanewal road crash.

She expressed heartfelt sympathies and condolence with the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, at least 13 people died, whereas 1,236 were injured in 1,156 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) across Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of these, 538 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 698 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams.

The majority (74%) involved motorbikes.

Furthermore, the analysis showed those 686 drivers, 52 underage drivers, 155 pedestrians, and 408 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 235 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 251 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by Faisalabad 79 in with 83 victims and at third Multan with 62 RTCs and 75 victims.

The details further reveal that 1249 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 1027 males & 222 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 171 were under 18 years of age, 718 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 360 victims were reported above 40 years of age.

According to the data 1041 motorbikes, 72 rickshaws, 129 cars, 22 vans, 11 buses, 33 truck and 94 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
