Four go missing in DI Khan

The van was found deserted near the cemetery shortly after the robbery

DI KHAN:

A union council chairman and his three colleagues went missing, while they were coming back in vehicle after attending a funeral in the troubled Daraban area of the Dera Ismail Khan district on Thursday.

Police officials told The Express Tribune that Chairman Sub-Division Bannu, Wazir Malik Masto Khan, Asadullah and Misbahuddin and the driver might have been kidnapped as their vehicle was found abandoned.

"Director Housing Authority, Ghazi Nawaz passed away and these four men went to Daraban to attend the funeral prayers. On their return journey they disappeared," said a police official. Daraban in the foot of Sulaiman mountain range that is infested with terrorists.

In July last year, in a broad daylight heist, armed robbers looted a private bank's cash van on Daraban Road in Dera Ismail Khan, stealing Rs8 million and kidnapping the staff.

The incident occurred near a local cemetery where the robbers abandoned the van after taking the money and staff. Police reported that the robbers intercepted the van, seized the cash, and forced the staff into their vehicle before fleeing towards Daraban road.

The van was found deserted near the cemetery shortly after the robbery. The authorities launched an intensive investigation to track down the culprits and recover the stolen funds.
