OGDCL boosts oil production at Kunnar

Increases stake in Qadirpur D&PL from 75% to 82.99% pending regulatory approvals

ISLAMABAD:

The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Thursday announced a substantial increase in oil production from its Kunnar Oil Field in Hyderabad, Sindh, alongside a strategic acquisition in the Qadirpur field.

Production optimisation efforts at Kunnar-12 and Kunnar-6 wells have added 1,160 barrels per day (bpd) of oil. At Kunnar-12, OGDCL replaced a Jet Pump with an Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP), boosting output from 1,060bpd to 1,820bpd, an increase of 760bpd.

Similarly, Kunnar-6, previously inactive due to high water production, was revived through rigless interventions and re-completion with an ESP. The well now produces 400bpd.

Meanwhile, in a notice to the stock exchange, OGDCL announced acquiring an additional 7.99% working interest in the Qadirpur Development and Production Lease (D&PL) from KUFPEC Pakistan BV through a Farm-in Agreement. This increases OGDCL's stake in the Qadirpur D&PL from 75% to 82.99%, pending regulatory approvals.
