Lahore High Court has summoned a woman who accused former captain Babar Azam of rape, harassment, blackmail, and financial exploitation, Express News reported. The woman has also alleged that Azam had promised to marry her in 2010 but later reneged on his promise.

Justice Asjad Javed Ghural of the Lahore High Court directed the investigation officer to record Mukhtar's statement and present her in court at the next hearing. The judge also remarked that if Mukhtar did not wish to pursue the case, it should be dismissed.

Azam's lawyer argued that the allegations were baseless and aimed at damaging the cricketer's reputation. Azam has denied all allegations, stating that the claims were "false and malicious".

The petitioner had claimed that she and Babar Azam were in a relationship for a considerable period. She alleged that she had conceived during their relationship but was persuaded by Azam to abort the child.

According to the petitioner, Azam had reassured her, promising to marry her and telling her it would not be good for their future if she gave birth before marriage.

She attached medical documents to the court, supporting her claims of the abortion and her relationship with Azam.

She stated that after realising she was being betrayed, she approached the Naseerabad police to file an FIR. However, the matter was eventually resolved after Azam promised to marry her.

The petitioner further maintained that after Azam became a well-known cricket star, he ignored her and failed to honour his marriage promise.

She alleged that despite this, when she sought to file another FIR against Azam for blackmail and fornication under the pretext of marriage, the police seemed unwilling to register the complaint.
