Timothée Chalamet is gearing up for double duty as both host and musical guest on this week’s Saturday Night Live, and he’s getting a little creative with his preparations. The A Complete Unknown star poked fun at his own celebrity status in the latest SNL promo by recruiting a crew of his doppelgangers to help manage the hectic week.
The promo humorously taps into the recent trend of Chalamet look-alike contests, featuring stand-ins dressed in some of his most iconic looks, including Wonka attire, red carpet ensembles, and even a Dylan-inspired outfit in honor of his upcoming Bob Dylan biopic.
“I’ve never done this before,” Chalamet admits in the clip. “You know, I’m having to be SNL host and musical guest in the same week, so it’s a lot of work and I want to focus on the songs.”
Chalamet also teases his musical set, hinting at the possibility of performing a Bob Dylan song or two, as he portrays the iconic musician in A Complete Unknown.
In the skit, the actor outlines the tasks his lookalikes will help with, saying, “Stuff like meeting with the writers or working on my monologue. And of course, you gotta listen to Mikey Day brag about hosting Is It Cake?”
One of the faux-Timmys even makes an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, much to the amusement of Chalamet, who watches the imposter interact with a confused Fallon. “He’s good. He’s really good. Yeah, you guys should learn from him,” Chalamet quips to his crew.
The episode, featuring Chalamet as both host and musical guest, airs Saturday at 11:30 PM ET/8:30 PM PT on NBC and streams live on Peacock.
