President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that Sean Curran, a long-time Secret Service agent who rushed to his aid during an attempted assassination in July, will become the new lead of the secret service Curran, who had been serving on Trump's personal security detail, will replace Ronald Rowe as the director.

Trump praised Curran for his courage during the incident at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Curran risked his life to help Trump. "He proved his fearless courage when he risked his own life to help save mine from an assassin’s bullet," Trump said. "I have complete and total confidence in Sean to make the United States Secret Service stronger than ever before."

The Secret Service had faced sharp criticism from Congress after the attack, leading to the resignation of Director Kimberly Cheatle in the wake of the security lapses.

In addition to the Secret Service announcement, Trump appointed conservative activist L. Brent Bozell III as the new CEO of the United States Agency for Global Media.

This independent agency oversees the distribution of broadcast news. Bozell’s son, who had been convicted for his role in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, was pardoned as part of Trump’s sweeping pardon initiative.
