Pakistan Army, in collaboration with the Public Health Department, conducted a free medical camp in the Saawan area of Jehlum Valley, Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), providing essential healthcare services to locals, including families of martyrs and veterans.

The camp featured a team of specialist doctors, including gastroenterologists, gynaecologists, and general medical practitioners, Express News reported.

Hundreds of patients received free consultations and medicines during the initiative.

Locals expressed their gratitude for the efforts of the Pakistan Army, welcoming the provision of healthcare in remote areas. “This is a wonderful initiative, and we hope such camps continue in the future,” said one resident.

Additionally, a welfare programme was held for retired soldiers and families of martyrs. The event included a mobile complaint cell to address concerns of veterans, with actionable measures initiated on the spot.

The Pakistan Army regularly organises medical camps in remote regions of AJK throughout the year, offering much-needed medical services and gaining widespread appreciation from local communities.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the first Daanish School of Science and Technology in AJK on Wednesday, marking a significant step in expanding educational opportunities for underprivileged children.

Speaking at the ceremony in Bhimber on Wednesday, the premier highlighted the initiative’s aim to provide quality education to talented students from underdeveloped regions, a vision initiated by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

“Thousands of students have graduated from Daanish Schools and are now contributing to various fields,” said PM Shehbaz, adding that the schools offer free books, meals, and boarding facilities.

The PM announced plans to establish more Daanish Schools in AJK, including Neelum, and extend the initiative to Gilgit Baltistan, Balochistan, and merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He directed the authorities to complete the construction and operationalise the school within a year.

PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s political, moral, and diplomatic support for Kashmiris. “The sacrifices of the Kashmiri people will not go in vain,” he said, emphasising the Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir’s dedication to supporting the Kashmiri cause.

AJK Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq praised the initiative, calling it a “game-changer” for the region. Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam confirmed the establishment of four Daanish Schools in AJK, furthering access to modern education.

The event was attended by federal ministers, AJK legislators, and Hurriyat leaders, underscoring the government’s focus on advancing education as a cornerstone of national progress.
