A North Carolina man shot and killed his wife, then confessed to the crime on Facebook before taking his own life in a strange murder-suicide.

George Lesniak, 63, killed his wife, Cathleen Lesniak, 59, in their Fuquay-Varina home on the evening of January 18, as per the Fuquay-Varina Police Department.

Police found Lesniak in the house, dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted fatal injury.

The murder occurred at the couple's spacious home, located 18 miles southwest of Raleigh, NC.

“My wife admitted to cheating on me so I killed, I’m about to kill myself,” Lesniak wrote in a post on the now-private ADAS Support group.

Lesniak, an administrator for the Facebook group focused on ADAS calibrations, mentioned that members should handle the group’s future.

The couple had been married for more than 34 years.

Lesniak’s Facebook message was posted at 6 p.m., just moments before police received a call to the residence.

While police assured the public there was no threat, they began an extensive investigation due to the nature of the case.

Officials expressed sympathy for the family, asking the community to offer their support during this difficult time.

The exact cause of death has yet to be confirmed as a murder-suicide.

Cathleen Lesniak had worked at Advanced Auto Parts as a Technical Production Manager, her now-privatized Facebook stated, as per the News & Observer.

George Lesniak, originally from Illinois, had been the vice president of training at Autel Automotive Intelligence before leaving in September 2024, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Autel Automotive issued a brief statement expressing their sorrow about the tragic events involving the Lesniak family.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occured at the Lesniak residence on January 18. We at Autel express our heartfelt condolences to the Lesniak family and friends,” the company said Sunday.
