Cameron Diaz makes stunning return to the charts with Back in Action
Cameron Diaz has made a powerful return to the big screen with her latest film Back in Action, which has quickly become a massive hit on Netflix.
The action comedy, which marks her first film in nearly a decade, has garnered 46.8 million views in just four days since its January 17 release. This impressive viewership has propelled Back in Action to the top of Netflix's global charts for English-language films, with a viewership equivalent to 88.9 million hours watched.
Directed by Seth Gordon of Horrible Bosses fame, the movie stars Diaz alongside Jamie Foxx, who persuaded her to return to acting after a break since her last film, 2014's Annie. Netflix also revealed that Back in Action reached No. 1 in 85 countries, which is the highest since Extraction 2 in 2023.
Despite mixed reviews from critics, with a 26% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has found popularity among audiences, holding a 62% score. Back in Action follows a pair of former CIA agents who, after stealing an important system from a KGB agent, are forced into hiding as they expect a child and later have to protect their growing family.
In addition to Back in Action, Diaz's Knight and Day from 2010, co-starring Tom Cruise, is also making waves on Netflix, reaching fourth place on the charts with 5.2 million views. This marks an impressive start to the year for Diaz, whose films are resonating with audiences worldwide.
