Electrician kidnapped by katcha dacoits for ransom

KARACHI:

An electrician hailing from Punjab has been abducted by dacoits from the riverine areas, police revealed on Tuesday. Allah Yar was kidnapped on December 18, 2024, but the Shah Latif Town police registered the case a month later, on January 19, 2025.

The case was registered under Section 365A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) on the complaint of a relative of the abductee. The kidnappers have demanded a hefty ransom of Rs5 million for Allah Yar's release.

Meanwhile, a video has surfaced on social media showing the captive pleading with his family to sell their property and livestock to meet the ransom demand. The footage also reveals signs of physical torture on the abducteee.

The case has been transferred to the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) for further investigation. This is not an isolated incident. Earlier this month, three workers, including two brothers from Rizvia Society, Karachi, were also kidnapped by katcha dacoits.
