Fashion designers to revamp police bands uniform

Top cop orders upgrade of bands performance, hiring of young professionals

KARACHI:

The Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police has ordered a rebranding of the Sindh police band with a single uniform created by a leading fashion designer.

Presently, each police band unit has a distinct uniform and the colours and designs have remained unchanged for decades - some since the days of the British Raj.

The police band will include slim and smart individuals well versed in the traditional brass and pipe instruments.

Currently, 100 personnel of various police bands are under training at the Pakistan Navy facility.

A review meeting regarding the upgrading of the Sindh Police Band was held at the Central Police Office, chaired by IG Ghulam Nabi Memon.

The meeting was attended by the DIG Headquarters, Training, AIG Logistics, Commandant Shahid Hayat of the Police Training School Saeedabad, and officials from the SBB Elite Police Training Centrel Razaqabad.

The meeting provided a detailed briefing on the workforce of the Sindh Police Bands, uniforms, available musical instruments, vacant positions, and recruitment rules.
