Subcommittee to review PTI's demands

A governmental committee that is holding talks with the PTI has formed a sub-committee to deliberate over the opposition party's demand to form a judicial commission to probe into the incidents that took place on May 9, 2023 and November 26, 2024

A meeting of the government's negotiation committee was held at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

Participants included Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister of Law Azam Nazeer Tarar, Aleem Khan, Salik Hussain, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Rana Sanaullah, Dr Farooq Sattar, Ijaz-ul-Haq, and Khalid Magsi.

The meeting reviewed the written demands of the PTI. During the meeting, Minister of Law Azam Nazeer Tarar briefed the committee on each point of the opposition's charter of demands. It was agreed to continue the committee's deliberations tomorrow.

Following the meeting, the spokesperson of the government committee—Senator Irfan Siddiqui—spoke to the media, stating that the session went well and included a detailed review of the PTI's demands. He said meetings would continue today (Wednesday) and the day after.

The senator said no final decision has been made regarding the establishment of a judicial commission, as consultations on the matter are ongoing.

"All representatives of the seven allied parties were present at the meeting. The seven working days for negotiations will be fully utilized, paving the way for the fourth round of talks with the PTI," he said.

After the meeting, PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah told the media that a subcommittee had been formed to examine PTI's charter of demands. This subcommittee would prepare the government's response to the PTI's demands, which would be presented in the next round of negotiations with the opposition.
