‘Abbott Elementary’ renewed for season 5 by ABC
ABC’s acclaimed comedy series Abbott Elementary has officially been renewed for Season 5, making it the first series to secure a spot on the network’s 2025-26 lineup.
The announcement was made in a creative twist featuring school children revealing the exciting news in a video shared online.
Created by and starring Emmy winner Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary continues its successful run as ABC’s flagship comedy. Its January 8th crossover episode with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia marked a new milestone, achieving a series-high in total viewers (8.05 million) and adults 18-49 ratings (2.57) in multi-platform viewing. The episode also set a streaming record with the highest seven-day viewership on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
Produced by Warner Bros. Television and 20th Television, the series centers on teachers at an underfunded Philadelphia public school. Brunson leads the cast as Janine Teagues, joined by Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, Lisa Ann Walter, William Stanford Davis, and Emmy winner Sheryl Lee Ralph.
The series, praised for its relatable humor and heartwarming storytelling, is executive produced by Brunson, Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, Randall Einhorn, and Brian Rubenstein.
Season 4 of Abbott Elementary airs Wednesdays on ABC, with episodes available for streaming the next day on Hulu. In the upcoming January 22 episode, the teachers adapt to hybrid learning as a citywide bus strike leaves many students unable to attend school.
