Travis Scott's halftime performance at the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship Game faced significant backlash from fans after a series of unexpected issues.

The rapper, who was performing to promote his new song "4×4," had been highly anticipated following his album release in July 2023. However, his performance, which took place atop the 71,000-seat Mercedes-Benz Stadium, left many fans disappointed as they were unable to see him or enjoy the debut of his new track.

The halftime show sparked frustration on social media, with many fans criticizing the performance as being poorly executed and potentially pre-recorded.

Some speculated that Scott was not actually present on the roof, despite the show's apparent promotional intent for his new song. Fans voiced their discontent with comments like “Pre-recorded garbage” and “He’s literally in space,” questioning both the location of the performance and the authenticity of the experience.

Scott’s performance was a stark contrast to his much-praised 2019 Super Bowl halftime show, where his “Sicko Mode” performance had captivated millions.

This year’s show, however, did not resonate with the same energy or engagement. Despite the confusion and negative feedback, Scott’s song “4×4” still managed to capture the attention of fans, even if the execution of his performance did not live up to expectations.

As the event unfolded, social media users continued to express their disappointment with the show, signaling a missed opportunity to connect with the audience at one of college football’s biggest events.
