Dasun Shanaka believes Pakistan is one of the top contenders for the upcoming Champions Trophy, especially with the tournament being played in home conditions.
In an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, Shanaka pointed out Pakistan's strengths and their ability to perform in front of their home crowd.
"Pakistan will definitely give a fight in the Champions Trophy," said Shanaka.
Shanaka, however, didn’t rule out other teams like Australia, India, and England. "They are also top contenders; you cannot write them off," he concluded.
The opening match of the Champions Trophy will see hosts Pakistan face New Zealand on February 19 in Karachi, followed by a highly anticipated clash between Pakistan and India on February 23 in Dubai.
The final of the Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in Lahore, but if India qualifies, the match will be moved to Dubai. Additionally, a reserve day has been set aside for the final in case of weather disruptions.
On the other hand, The renovation and upgrade of National Stadium Karachi for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 are in the final phase, with the completion deadline extended for the third time to January 31.
Initially set to be finished by December 15, the deadline was first pushed to December 31, then to January 25, and now confirmed for January 31.
Arshad Khan, General Manager of the stadium, and Project Manager Mohammad Bilal Chohan reassured the media that the project will be completed on time.
The renovation, which began on October 22, was approved by the PCB under Mohsin Naqvi's leadership and is being carried out by construction firms to ensure readiness for the event.
