Man kills brother over property dispute
A family dispute over the sale of their house turned deadly in Quaid-e-Azam Colony, Rawalpindi, as a younger brother shot and killed his elder sibling.
According to a spokesperson for the police, Ansar Mehmood the suspect's father reported that his youngest son, Asad Ali, had been urging him and his other sons to sell their house so he could start a property business.
According to Mehmood, Asad, who is unemployed, had been persistently pressuring the family and recently issued threats of violence.
"Asad warned us that he would lock everyone inside the house and set it on fire if we didn't sell the property," Mehmood said. He and his wife attempted to calm Asad, suggesting they could sell the house after arranging alternative accommodation.
The situation escalated when Asad visited the family home while Mehmood and his three other sons, Ahsan Ali, Bilal, and Hussain Ali, were present.
An argument ensued, and when Hasan Ali, another of Mehmood's sons, tried to intervene, Asad allegedly became abusive and physically confrontational.
In the heat of the moment, Hasan reportedly drew a pistol and fired at Asad.
Mehmood accused Hasan of killing his brother without justification.
