Rapper Soulja Boy has sparked debate after performing at the Crypto Ball, an event hosted by cryptocurrency executives to celebrate Donald Trump’s return to the White House. The January 17, 2025, gathering in Washington also featured Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross.

Critics quickly took to social media to condemn Soulja Boy, accusing him of prioritizing financial gain over principles. One user on X (formerly Twitter) commented, "Guess Soulja Boy’s motto is ‘Follow the money,’ no matter who’s handing it out." Another wrote, "All money isn’t good money. This won’t leave a good legacy."

In response, Soulja Boy defended his decision during an Instagram Live session. “They paid me a bag. Obama and Kamala never put money in my pockets,” he said. Emphasizing that the Crypto Ball was not politically affiliated but focused on cryptocurrency, the rapper added, "Trump wasn’t even there."

While some expressed disapproval, others supported his choice, arguing that financial decisions don’t always reflect political endorsements. “Soulja Boy is being real! Let them practice their art,” one supporter tweeted. Another pointed out, “The man has a family and mouths to feed.”

Admitting he was initially hesitant about participating, Soulja Boy revealed that the compensation made it worth his while. “I’ll do it again,” he declared, standing by his decision.
