Victoria Beckham: Designer mum reveals new clothing line
Victoria Beckham’s latest collection is a departure from her trademark style.
LONDON:
Singer-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham knows how to juggle between a career and a newborn perfectly. Unhampered by the fact that she gave birth to her fourth child, daughter Harper Seven, nine weeks ago, the 37-year-old launched her latest collection ‘Victoria by Victoria Beckham’ on September 12 at the New York Fashion Week.
The collection, which she called a “labour of love”, marked a departure from her characteristic sleek, figure-hugging dresses, notes dailymail.co.uk. Instead, baseball-style caps, racer necklines and dropwaist dresses reminiscent of tennis frocks gave a nod of recognition to the sporting world of her footballer husband David Beckham.
“This has been a real labour of love for me and we have been working on it for around a year. I wanted something that was a little bit more affordable, but I did not want to compromise with design or quality,” femalefirst.co.uk quoted the former Posh Spice as saying.
However, the mother-of-four insisted the line is not just a diffusion of her more expensive range. “It’s not a second line, or a diffusion line — it’s another line, another side to my wardrobe. This is a way to give my customers what they want.”
Further describing her collection, Beckham, who was dressed in a black and pink bubble-hem dress, added; “They are really easy-to-wear day dresses. You can wear everything with heels, but you can wear them with flats as well. And they fit a lot of different people. Nothing’s tight: everything’s quite comfortable and roomy.”
