From Garland seller to internet sensation: India’s Monalisa steals spotlight at Kumbh Mela
As the Maha Kumbh Mela unfolds in India, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, a garland seller from Indore, Monalisa, has caught the attention of millions on social media for her striking looks and unique presence.
Known for attending every Kumbh Mela, Monalisa, a young woman from Madhya Pradesh, became an overnight sensation following viral videos that showcased her selling pearl neckpieces by the ghat.
In one widely circulated video, Monalisa interacts with a lady from Japan, where the two exchange their experiences at the Maha Kumbh Mela.
However, what initially seemed like a moment of fame has turned into an overwhelming experience for Monalisa.
In a subsequent video, the young woman expressed frustration over the constant influx of people wanting to meet her and click photos.

"All day long, they keep clicking photos. They take photos the whole day, and don't even let me sell the necklaces," she said, explaining how the constant interruptions were preventing her from doing her work.
In another video, Monalisa is seen walking away from a crowd after a man suggests he brought a marigold garland for her, further highlighting the extent of attention she has received.
While some social media users have praised Monalisa's beauty, many have also criticised the behavior of the crowd.
